Each year during the Annual Meeting, the prestigious Academy of Management recognizes authors and reviewers of journal articles that were published in each of the Academy’s journals. These include prizes for the best article, reviewer (s) over the last year as well as a « decade award » that rewards the article that has been most cited over the last 10 years.
Congratulations to ICOR team member, Professor Farah Kodeih, whose 2011 co-authored article* on institutional complexity and organizational responses was recognised with the « Decade award » in the Academy of Management Annals!. Farah subsequently joined IESEG in 2019, and this research was published when she was carrying out her Ph.D at ESSEC Business School .
She explains: “This research holds a special place in my career, as it resulted from an international collaboration with some of the leading scholars in Organization Theory when I visited the University of Alberta, and it was the first manuscript I got published. The impact of this study caught us all by surprise, and it showed how much interest there is in organizations that straddle different cultural spheres and navigate contradictory pressures. The current focus of my research on social organizations and their diverse efforts to support marginalized communities can be seen as a continuation of this early work.”
The Academy of Management (AOM) is a leading professional association for management and organization scholars. « Members are professors and Ph.D. students in business schools at universities, academics in related social science and other fields, and practitioners who value knowledge creation and application », it notes. Founded in 1936, its international community today ‘is nearly 20,000 strong and spans over 120 countries’.
